  • Get Baptized
  • Believer's Baptism

Simply stated, you are ready to be baptized if you have made a decision to receive Jesus Christ as your Forgiver and Leader (Savior & Lord). This is what the Bible calls "Believer’s Baptism."

Acts 2:41: "Those who believed and accepted his message were baptized."

When you are baptized, you are following the biblical command and walking in a step of obedience. The last words of Jesus also remind us of this important "next step." He says in Matthew 28:19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

If you have experienced the forgiveness and grace of Jesus Christ in a personal way and want to be baptized at the next baptism sign up at the Welcome Center any Sunday or call the church office at 433-1165. Or, if you have questions about baptism, download the "Just Add Water" booklet for answers.

Why should I join a Group?
Spiritual growth is a process.  Joining a Group gives you the opportunity to pray, learn and experience life together with new friends at South Palm who are also exploring their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Where and when do Groups meet?
Our Groups currently meet in homes on different days of the week.

How long does a Group meeting last?
Each week the Group meeting time is usually 1½-2 hours long.

What will I do with my children during Group?
Each Group will decide their own answer to this question.  Groups have various choices, i.e. hire a baby sitter for the Group, have another home near the host home with a parent keeping them, or adults rotate keeping the kids in a bonus room.

    Will there be homework?
If your Group is using a workbook then there will be weekly homework. The length of time it will take to complete will depend on the individual workbook.

Am I going to have to talk or can I just sit and listen during meetings?
Groups are like family, sometimes you talk, sometimes you listen.  No one is forced to talk or to lead the Group.  We all move at a different pace, and you are allowed to do just that.

Will I have to pray out loud?
No.  Again, you are allowed to move/grow, at your own pace.  If the time comes in your life that you feel you need to voice a prayer request, that will be well received.  If the time comes that you would like to lead in prayer, that will also be well received.

How much do I have to know about the Bible?
Nothing.  Groups are about learning the Bible not debating it or being tested on it.  Each week you will look at some specific Bible passages and discuss them as a Group. Therefore, each week you will know more about the Bible than you did the week before.

How many weeks or months is the Group going to last?
That depends on the material the Group is currently engaged in.  Your Group may decide to continue after the material is complete and study another series. Members of your Group are free to choose to stay with the same Group as it continues or to check out a different Group that fits within their schedule or lifestyle.  South Palm has a number of Groups that have been meeting together for a few years.

What will we be doing at the meetings?
Enjoy getting to know each other, read a Bible passage related to the story, talk about how the story relates to our everyday life, have some SNACKS, and pray. Perhaps watch a portion of a DVD if that is part of the material presentation of your study.  Sometimes Group members begin to do life together by eating out at restaurants, playing golf, going to movies or fishing.  The community that is built in a Group can be life-changing.
