Basic Beliefs

The Bible - A book by the greatest author of all time - God
The Bible is God’s word and direction to all people. It was written by human authors who were under the direct supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible, because it was God-inspired, is without error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

The Trinity - God: Three in One
God has existed with Himself for all eternity. He has no beginning and no end. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity fills different roles but each have equal power and authority.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23; 14:10, 16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10; James 2:19

God - The Father
God is the creator and ruler of all the universe. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all loving. Most importantly, He is Holy – and He is faithful to us. He is the reason we live and to Him be all the Glory.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2; Corinthians 13:14

God - The Son, Jesus Christ Jesus
Christ is the Son of God. He is God in human form, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life, offering himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He overcame death and arose three days later. He ascended into heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as Lord of all.
Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13

God - The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, equal with God the Father and Jesus Christ, exists to make the world aware of their need for Jesus Christ, He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation to provide power for living, understanding for spiritual growth, and guidance to do what it right. Christians see to live daily under His control.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1

Man - Made in God’s image
Man is the supreme object of God’s creation. We are made in the Spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Despite our tremendous potential for good, we are marred by a disposition of disobedience and rebellion called sin. Sin separates people from God.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2

Eternity - Forever with or without God
People were created to exist forever. Every person will exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Simply put, to be eternally separated from God is hell; to be eternal union with Him is heaven. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46

Salvation – The way to God
Salvation is a gift of God to all people. Man can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works. – only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty.
Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

The Church – God’s Community
The church is a local community of believers unified through faith in Jesus Christ. The church is fully committed to the teachings of Christ, to obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the gospel to the local community and beyond. The church is a place where people can get answers, grow, and become more and more committed to Christ and His cause.
